FAQ’s
Blog FAQ’s (so you can know everything you need to know!)
Glad you made it to my blog. There are so many talented writers, photographers, graphic artist, stylist and video heads in the blogosphere that I wondered what I could contribute that would make me stand out. With that I know I am pretty opinionated when it comes to the industry and I am great at connecting people. So here is my blog. Before you decide to send me a question please read my FAQ’s.
Kristen how can I contact you?
You can drop me an email at kristen@kristenlock.com. I try to answer every question sent to me. Remember there are no stupid questions…… just stupid people!
Kristen, how long have you been doing hair?
I have styled hair since I was 6. I started charging money for my styles when I was 14. And when I realized I could make more than $15 for a 3 hour braid job I began to make real money. $25 for a 6 hour braid job. (Hope you can see the humor). Since I mostly braid, I only need a license in a couple of states. I am official though and I can hook up anybody; male or female, black, white, Asian and even little kids too!
Do you recommend any hair products?
Only from companies that pay me to.
. Check my reviews section silly! Overall I support hair products that do not use unnecessary chemicals. I am not a big fan of relaxers, but to each her own. You have to do what makes you feel good on the outside. Organic/Natural products are good, but not every organic product can “work that kitchen”, lets be real. I also personally try to support “local” manufacturers and products makers.
Where is your salon located?
I travel all over the country as I have a life that involves a lot of travel. I used to have a salon in Los Angeles until I read the 4 hour work week, by Timothy Ferris. One month I am in the NYC, the next Los Angeles, the next Atlanta the next Arizona. You will see from the interviews I conduct on the site that I am all over the map. I hope to one day do hair in the mother land or somewhere else in the Diaspora.
Kristen can we see pictures of your work?
You can order a DVD or you can browse the blog. I post images from time to time.
