So we have companies who have spent millions in developing a product and pushing it in the market with all sorts of wonderful promises. They are in the business to make money and want to get you to use their products on a regular basis. In spite of the best efforts, chemicals in cosmetics have different effects on different people and these side effects show up on a single usage or over a period of time. If it works well for you fine. If it does not and gives adverse reactions you will likely discard it forever.

Most of these products are a blend of complex organic compounds with Ammonia as a component. Detergents in shampoos may contain laurel sulphate and linear Alkyl Benzene. These compounds are harsh and strip the skin and hair of natural oils. It is also an observed fact that prolonged use of shampoos results in premature greying of hair plus split ends and brittleness. So many face creams have resulted in premature ageing, wrinkling and sagging of facial skin.

The famous brands like Pantene and Garnier do the same with your hair. They do not benefit your hair and after some time you will never like to use them on your hair. Some more products that you will never like to use on your hairs are 2 in 1 in conditioners. L’Oreal Nature Therapy Unfrizz Smoothing Treatment, Got2b So Smooth one minute emergency repair crème, Proclaim wrapping lotion, ORS Locking Gel, Suave Humectress, Suave daily clarifying, infusium repair shampoo, and Pantene relaxed and natural line and so on.

Every user of these products says only one thing that these products suck, suck and only suck. Tresseme could perhaps be the only recognized company which does not use any harsh chemical in its products. The actual problem is that these hair products are in abundance and a great variety. Marketing of these products fascinates the common man and they use it on their hair and wait for the best results, what they never get. The gullible are an easy prey and the marketing gurus know it all too well.

I know of a friend who is only too well aware of the complex chemicals used in most cosmetics. So he has made it a rule in his family: no shampoos, soaps, creams or any cosmetics of any kind. The only cosmetics they use are natural like oil for hair, herbal mix for cleaning hair (it has really worked to make hair long and silky), turmeric and rice/chickpea powder for bathing and so on. But then for the modern man to revert to nature is difficult especially when he can buy so many magic solutions off the shelves of supermarkets!

There are safer and better PH balanced products available in the market that you could easily use. You should always stay away from the harsh cleaning shampoos and conditioners what claim to make your hairs healthy. You will feel healthy even after avoiding them. Also never wash your hairs more than once a week under normal conditions pertaining to your lifestyle and jobs.

There are so many varieties of lace wigs that sometimes it becomes difficult for us to choose the right type for ourselves. Lace front wigs are made with lace materials light in weight and contain a cap. The cap is intended for personalized fitting.

Many high-profile personalities go for lace wigs. A main reason for this is that the wig combines well with natural hairline and it becomes difficult, if not impossible, to be detected while wearing.

Once you purchase the lace front wig, the next step is to wear it to see how it looks. In fact, there are two different materials that can be applied to stick the lace wig onto your head; the first is lace wig tape and the second is glue. Which one you would use is absolutely your own choice; the lace front wig works with both of them.

Lace wig glue is however more popular than tape and is used more often. Glue tends to hold lace front wigs for a longer period of time. The usual hold time for a lace front wig stuck with glue is anywhere between two to three weeks. However you will come across some types of glue which claim to hold the lace wig for a longer period of time. At times, people have experimented with both tape and glue simultaneously, with a good amount of success. Using both materials together also provides a longer lasting effect.

There are two different varieties of lace wig glue available; water-based and solvent-based glue. Below are mentioned the characteristics of both types:

Water-based Glue:

Better for sensitive skin

The hold of the wig is moderately strong, though the time period for hold may not be very long

Solvent Based Glue:

Contains Chemicals

There are chances of inflammations and eruptions on sensitive skin

The hold of the wig is much stronger than water-based glue.

Whichever type of glue you select for holding the wig, it is recommended that you test the product before using it. The product should be tested on a particular area at least for an hour to check for any allergies or rashes.

There is a variety of lace wig glues available in the market and the one that is most suitable for most people is considered the best. However, please remember it is very much possible that a particular lace wig glue may be very good for one and still may not suit many others. Therefore, the best lace wig glue for you is the one that suits you the most and not necessarily the one that sells the most in the market.

A few popular lace wig glues are mentioned below:

Ultra-hold

Base Bond Adhesive

Perma Tec Bond Adhesive

Endura-Bond

For some, ultra-hold may be the best glue but it may not suit others at all. Base Bond is a great glue to carry around and use on the move as it dries in about 5 minutes. This glue is best in emergencies.

Perma Tec Bond Adhesive shows good performance in case of extreme body heat and oily scalp conditions. This glue is creamier and thicker and it delivers an easy-to-use and lasting application. Endura-Bond is the best glue for long-term wear of lace front wigs. Keep these factors in mind and you will be able to choose the best glue for your lace front wig without much effort!

The lace front wig is semi-permanent in nature, designed with a base of pure lace and made with real human hair. It is a highly durable wig and the users can even swim and work out while wearing it. Lace front wigs are natural-looking and are hence very popular. These wigs provide you a natural and reasonable hairline.

The lace front wig has a delicate lace scalp in front and to give that natural look the lace is threaded with synthetic or real strands of hair in a way that looks natural. Initially these wigs were designed for women who experienced severe hair loss due to chemotherapy or other reasons.

Initially, African American women had a craze for lace front wigs because these are the most natural ones for them. Now these are popular amongst white women as well. White women generally wear lace front wigs which match their personalities. Almost everyone in Hollywood, from top celebrities to starlets, has tried these at some point of time.

White women are attracted to these wigs due to several reasons. Some have taken medication that has caused hair loss, or they may have alopecia, or they may just want a new look! There is no absolute reason why anyone would want a lace front wig. One fact is that women like versatility and the lace wig allows you to have the option to braid, curl or twist the wig into hair style of your choice. Due to this ability of the wig you can create many looks with a single lace front wig. This also makes them suit your budget. However, there is a disadvantage also associated with these wigs and that is the delicate work they carry. Due to its delicate nature, the lace front wig is more susceptible to damage. The lace front will also need to be repaired if worn regularly. The different styles experimented on the wig will also demand more maintenance. If not maintained regularly then the lace front wig may soon become a rag.

When we look at the cost factor the lace front wigs are definitely on a higher side than the traditional wigs. However, when one sees their advantages, one really does not mind. Some of these wigs are made completely from human hair, something that makes them costlier, while some may be a mix of human and synthetic hair.

There are various ways to wear the lace front wigs. If the hair is long, then to get a secure fit the wig should be braided. Shorter hair can be simply tucked under the wig.

The biggest advantage of wearing lace front wigs is that in addition to a better hairline, they give a more realistic look compared to other types of wigs. There is a gradual transition from thin hair to a denser spread. It becomes almost impossible to trace and detect that you are wearing a wig.

There are special adhesives available to attach these lace front wigs to your head. The choice of adhesive is between double-sided adhesive tape made mainly for hair wigs and glue used specially for holding lace wigs. Alternatively, some women even trim the wig to give it a natural look and ensure that the wig merges well with the natural hair.

We have all are aware about the famous singer Rihanna. Rihanna is a talented woman who has captured many hearts the world over with charismatic music. And if there is another thing that she is well known for, it is her hairstyles. You could say she has left no hats unturned in her quest for novel, striking and noticeable hairstyles. Every hairstyle worn by Rihanna whether it is pixie cut, bob cut, short o curly has been eye-catching and unique and a trend setter.

You must consider three significant factors of Rihanna’s hair style:

The purpose of hairstyles is to generate illusions that make the face shape look closer to the oval shape. The face shape of Rihanna is diamond shape, with correct width and length proportion, with the exception of the significantly slim forehead. Considering this reason Rihanna’s hairstyles need to only make small alteration in the forehead area.

Also if Rihanna’s hairstyle is long then it is complemented with side-swept bangs. In case Rihanna’s hairstyle is short crown height is added to forehead width.

Best feature of the hair should be highlighted with the hairstyle. If you would have noticed the majority of Rihanna hairstyles engage hair which is straight.

In addition to the shape there is much more to Rihanna’s hair. The hairstyle should also be a reflection of the personality and the body. Personality of Rihanna is of a pop star hence the hairstyles of Rihanna tend to lean towards the unusual and the trendy.

If you have either of the following face shapes then Rihanna’s hairstyle is the best for you:

Triangle,

Long,

Square,

Diamond shape

Asymmetrical bob happens to be the sweetest styles worn by Rihanna. This hairstyle is just about an ideal style of hair for anyone. These hairstyles are not difficult for maintaining and owe their reinvention to Rihanna.

The look of a bob haircut is timeless. But with Rihanna’s experiment of making it trendy and stylish with some adjustments this hairstyle has become thrilling and fun and modernized as well.

Taking a close look at Rihanna’s bob cut:

In her Bob cut avatar hair is cut short from the back.

There were layers that added smoothness to her hair.

The length of the bangs was not short.

Rihanna split the hair right off from the center for parting. One side is swept back and the other side falls over the eye.

The other part removed fraction of them towards back from Rihanna’s face where they still framed it.

The rest of the hair was left open from the other side.

All you need to do is to check with the hair stylist to check how you would look in Rihanna’s hairstyle. You can also look as trendy and stylish as Rihanna but make sure of the shape of your face and the look that goes best with it. You may not look good in Rihanna’s hairstyle and may need to look for another hairstyle. You need to sure of which hairstyle you are experimenting with to get that real classy look like Rihanna’s. Even the layers and the colors can look the same provided the look is carefully worked with. We wish you all the best and if you are a dedicated Rihanna fan let us hope her hairstyle suits you too!

Sensationnel Pro 10 Hair is a brand that I love to use for those of you want want the human hair look but do not want the human hair budget!

Here is the Pro 10 Promise:

The Pro 10 Promise:

1. Easy Wash and Restore for a great look and healthy scalp 2. Revitatize and Refresh for a lasting appearance 3. Tangle Free for styling ease 4. Itch Free for 24 hour comfort 5. Thin Weft for a track free appearance 6. Non-shedding for carefree styling 7. Longer Lengths for the styles you want 8. Easy Curling for quick restyling 9. Longer Lasting for durable use 10. Natural Look for a style that looks like you.

Concerned about the high price of human hair? Pro10 Ultima® Collagen Protein Hair by Sensationnel is a smart alternative to human hair.

Limited supply and high demand is the formula for high prices. The scarcity of raw human hair has led to an industry-wide increase in human hair prices. Higher quality hair and longer length human hair is even more expensive and difficult to get. Fortunately, there are options.

Human hair is made of Keratin fibers. Pro10 is collagen protein fiber which looks, feels, and handles like human hair. Pro10 maintains its natural luster and shine and can be reused. Pro10 is made in wefted hair (for weaving) or bulk hair (for braiding). Collagen hair offers unique advantages over human hair. Like human hair, collagen fibers can be heat-styled and are long lasting. Pro10 requires less heat than human hair. It produces a more stable curl or wave pattern at a low heat temperature of 120°C. It restores easily with washing without tangling or shedding. Curly styles may loose curl after washing and will have to be reset.

Available styles include European Silky Straight for (straight textured hair), Yaki (for relaxed textures hair) and wavy and curly styles suitable for all hair textures.

Collagen fibers are not subject to variation in quality, color and texture you would expect in natural human hair products. You get the same texture, color and quality with every purchase – a near impossible task with human hair. Pro10 can also be produced in longer lengths and in a wider variety of colors.

Collagen braiding (bulk) hair is manufactured for optimum braiding. Braiding hair products come in folded lengths of 36″ with no fly ends. The hair is soft and great to work with. Braiders will love this product. Wefted hair pieces are constructed with thin wefts which make the piece lighter and easier to work with. Curly styles may loose curl after washing and will need to be reset.

Pro10 is a great affordable quality human hair substitute that out performs Kanekalon and Toyokalon. Pro10 is a collagen protein synthetic hair product. THIS IS NOT HUMAN HAIR.

Expect great handling, softness, shine and longer and a natural look but also expect to replace the hair as you would other synthetic hair products.

One is said to have become anaemic when there is a decrease in the number of red blood cells (RBC) in the blood and it goes below the normal count. Anaemia is also caused when the blood’s capacity of carrying haemoglobin decreases. There are several types of anaemia. Not all types of anaemia have hair loss as a symptom. Only a few types of anaemia, that too in the chronic stage, will cause Telogen Effluvium or hair loss due to iron deficiency.

The chief symptoms of anaemia are dizziness, shortness of breath, paleness of skin, weakness, headaches, etc. When the condition deteriorates further, symptoms like dry hair, pale hair color and hair loss are seen. The reason for hair loss is simple. Oxygen is the main ingredient that helps the cells live, function and reproduce. When the quantity of oxygen reaching each cell gets reduced, normal cell functions get disrupted. The cells supporting the follicles of hair also become weak and subsequently the hair falls off.

One type of anaemia that causes hair loss is Iron Deficiency Anaemia. As the name implies, insufficient amount of iron in the body is the cause of this type of anaemia. It is a common knowledge that iron is the oxygen-carrying element in haemoglobin of our blood. With a deficiency of iron, the amount of oxygen reaching the cells will decrease and the symptoms of anaemia will gradually show in the individual.

The second type of anaemia that leads to hair fall is Copper Deficiency Anaemia. Copper in small amount is needed for the proper functioning of many organs in our body. Decreased quantity of copper in the blood causes discoloration of hair. Absorption of iron into haemoglobin also gets blocked due to insufficient amount of copper in blood. Eventually, all this leads to hair loss.

Pernicious Anaemia also leads to abnormal hair loss. Anaemia caused by the lack of Vitamin B12 or Cyanocobalamine is called Pernicious Anaemia. It is seen mostly in people above the age of 40.

Similar to neem oil for healthy hair, All these types of anemia can be effectively treated by consuming nutritious food, especially food that is rich in iron content. Meat, fish, legumes and fresh green leafy vegetables are great suppliers of iron. It is better to include fruits like gooseberry, guava, orange, etc. that contain high level of Vitamin C, to help your body in iron absorption.

If possible, reduce the intake of tea, fibers and dairy products. Tea has ingredients that prevent iron assimilation. Fibres in vegetables and cereals bind with iron blocking its entry into blood. Excessive amount of dairy products is also not advisable. The calcium in milk products interfere with iron and serve as iron inhibitors. Avoid alcohol and drugs too, if you want good, healthy and shiny hair.

Hair loss due to mineral (Iron, Copper, etc.) and vitamin deficiency is found in both men and women. But the number is higher among women because of factors like blood loss due to menstruation and dieting practiced by them. Pregnancy also plays a part in causing this problem for women.

There are iron tablets and vitamin tablets available in market. But, never use them without a doctor’s advice. Eat healthy and nutritious food to prevent hair loss due to iron deficiency.

I am always falling in love with new products. I am a lover of the Kinky -Curly products. I have yet to make my way thru their entire line but I have used their curling custard, shampoo, and their conditioners. Today I want to talk about their conditioner.

Can you say love at first use? I am a bit of a health snob in many respects. I subscribe to the notion that everything that you put on your body gets absorbed into your body. I mean your skin is the largest organ in your body right. Well this may be true but I don’t want this to come at the expense of looking good right. I mean I am a happily married woman but I want to stay that was so I need to make sure that I keep it together!

I have natural hair and that at times can be a challenge to keep it soft and moisturized. I have found that Kinky – Curly’s KNOT TODAY conditioner to be amazing! It is an AMAZING detangiling conditioner and can also be used as a leave in conditioner. I used it in my daughters hair last night and did a 2 strand twist and untwisted this morning and let her wear it to school just like that! It was so cute. She was swinging around her curls and really loving her natural hair, and as a mother that makes you feel great when your child loves their natural hair.

So obveously I like the conditioner but I love what the conditioner does not have.

It is nice to know that people of all ages can appreciate my work. It is our youth that give me the motivation to keep on blogging! With all that said here is a question that one of my readers posted:

Hey Kristen. I’ve been doing a lot of research on tree braids and I have to say u r pretty darn good @ them. I plan on getting some done sometime this week but I just had a few questions.
1. Can you wash your natural hair w/ the braids in? (I bet you have gotten that question a million times, but i couldn’t find the answer)
2. Do u know of any brand of hair that is curly when wet but can be flat ironed straight?
3. Do u recommend anyone in the Sacramento, ca area that can do cornrow tree braids really good @ a reasonable price?

oh, and by the way im 13 so if theres a kids discount be sure to tell me that price. (unless the age limit is 10 or something, i might be able to get away w/ being 12 yrs old)

should I wash my natural hair with braids

To answer question number 1….. YES please wash your hair while it is braided! It is so important to keep your natural and braid hair clean. I get so irritated when people get their hair braided and their hair care gores on auto pilot. I use this analogy to get my point across. “Would you not wash your face for 4 weeks just because you had on a mask?” No you wouldn’t because your face would break out and you would be walking around looking CRAZY. Well your scalp is skin just like your face and it needs care too. There is no need to wash it everyday however 4 weeks is too long! So please wash your hair at least 2 times a week. And washing does not mean that tyoui have to get in the shower and do it but at least get some sea breeze and clean your scalp.

Question number 2…. Yes there is a l0t of hair that can be curly and straight. Any of the wet and wavy hair can do this. For example Milky way hair. Hair purchased from www.hisandher.com There is even synthetic hair that can do this. One of my personal favorites is Brandy’s Pro 10 hair. It has this versatility. In fact I wish she made lace front wigs because I think that they would sell well. Using a Flat Iron like the FHI Ceramic Flat Iron can work well too.

Question 3…. I am not familiar with the Sacramento braiders but if you are a braider in Sacramento please send me a comment and I can post some of your work and possibly get you some clients. I love sharing the wealth with other braiders!

Lastly. Is there a children’s discount? Of course children tend to have smaller heads therefore their heads are easy to do do and take less time. When this happens I do share the wealth by coming down on my prices.

Keep sending me questions and I will do my best to answer to the best of my abilities. Thanks a bunch.

Remember the days when people would talk about you when you had in a weave? You were said yot have in horse hair, or that you were “unbeweavible” Did people say this because they were afraid of change or perhaps they were jealous that they were not able to have their hair weaved. My personal belief was the the weave was so bad that there was only one thing to do……talk about crazy it looked! One of my favorite things to do it learn new techniques and become astonished by what some people allow to be done to their hair.
